TITANIC – The Exhibition - currently on in Lausanne

6 minutes | Friday, 15 November 2024

On April 10, 1912, the RMS Titanic set out on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England. The most luxurious and modern ship of the time, the Titanic collided with an iceberg on April 14, 1912 at 11:40 a.m. and sank 2 hours and 40 minutes later on April 15, with the loss of nearly 1,500 lives. More than a century later, Lausanne commemorates this tragedy, which still resonates in the collective memory today, by presenting “TITANIC – The Exhibition” covering more than 2000m2.

The exhibition features more than 200 authentic objects recovered from the wreck during dives conducted by Ifremer, the French research institute dedicated to knowledge of the ocean, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, director of underwater research for RMS Titanic , Inc.

This educational and family-friendly exhibition tells the powerful stories of the men and women who were aboard the legendary RMS Titanic, told through more than 200 moving artifacts and numerous recreations of the ship's cabins and iconic locations.
