Nora Szanto, MSc Psychology, is a trauma specialist and ex-athlete. She recently merged her two areas of expertise with a groundbreaking event at the House of Basketball, the headquarters of the International Basketball Federation. She organised a workshop for 60 participants, including professional basketball players from the Geneva Lions and young refugees from Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Ukraine. Facilitated by Artist Steph Fonteyn, the participants drew their life stories on canvas and shared some of their experiences. Both the refugees and the players opened up and shared their deepest traumas, creating powerful connections and fostering an environment of healing, personal growth, and self-confidence.
We talk to Nora on the WRS breakfast show about the transformational connections made through these workshops, the potential healing power of this collaboration through art and sports, and the ongoing partnership with the Geneva Lions.
