Police in canton Valais are still searching for two men who fled from a car after they demanded it stop.
Police spotted a car with reported stolen plates near Torgon. It then raced off and police gave chase. One officer opened fire to try to shoot out the tyres.
The car was later abandoned and two fled on foot. The search for them continues, police are using dogs in the hunt.
A spokesman for the cantonal police says the use of the firearm is also being investigated.
Use of guns by police in Switzerland is very rare, last year they only opened fire twice – in 2022, there were 6 incidents. But the use of tasers is climbing – 86 times last year.
