The Swiss passport is the joint 4th most powerful passport in the world

The Henley passport index has been released for this year, ranking passports in order of their so-called “passport power”.

'Power' in this case is the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa.

The index includes 199 passports and 227 travel destinations.

In the top spot is Singapore, with a passport that allows entry to 195 out of 227 destinations.

Second place is held jointly by France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Japan.

Third place is Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, South Korea and Sweden

Switzerland falls into the 4th place category, along with Belgium, Denmark, New Zealand, Norway and the United Kingdom.

Although described as 4th place, there are 13 passports with greater so-called ‘passport power’ on the list.

United states falls in at eighth place, after Australia, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Canada, Czechia, Hungary and Malta.
