Switzerland is criticising Russia for its attacks on media workers in Ukraine.
Putin has brought in a law that threatens a 15-year jail term for any journalist who reports negatively on the progress of the war.
The foreign ministry tweeted that it condemns the restrictions on the freedom of expression – including the blocking of social media and independent news websites. It says any form of disinformation must be rejected.
A Swiss journalist was wounded in the face and arm after being attacked by Russian forces in Ukraine. He was also robbed of cash, his passport, cameras and laptop.
