Swiss authorities are denying the existence of a biologist quoted in the Chinese media who was dismissing theories the coronavirus was first crated in a laboratory.
Articles in the Chinese press say the scientist, Wilson Edwards, works at the University of Bern and he says the United States is pressuring the World Health Organization to conclude the virus was created in a laboratory.
But the character seems to be a work of fiction. The Swiss Embassy in Beijing says despite a search, they can’t find anyone in the country called Wilson Edwards.
They also point out his Facebook page was created just days before and he has only three friends.
Seemingly found out, the original articles have all been taken down.
The Embassy is also calling on the Chinese media to publish a correction.
