Swiss army may take part in more international operations

The Swiss army may take part in more foreign missions.

The government is considering expanding international security cooperation. 

It says it believes with the tense global situation, active engagement would contribute to Switzerland’s security. 

This country has been involved with the Kosovo peacekeeping mission, KFOR, since 1999. There are 215 soldiers in the country.

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of States, wants to make foreign missions easier for Switzerland to take part in.
