A Zurich parliamentarian for the Green Liberal party may have just ended her career with an Instagram post.
32-year-old Sanija Ameti posted a story with her at a shooting range, holding a pistol and then her target, a reproduction of a painting with the Virgin Mary, holding a baby Jesus – which had bullet holes in it.
The condemnation has been quick and across the board, her party has distanced itself from her and the communications company she works for has expressed dissatisfaction.
She has summed up her decision as ‘absolutely stupid’. She says she didn’t mean to cause offence and simply needed a big target.
She's resigned from her leadership position within the party, but she could yet be expelled.
