Several injured in random knife attack

A man attacked several people with a knife yesterday afternoon in Zofingen in canton Aargau.

Police say the man was walking down the street and stabbing passers-by. In total, he injured six, two of them seriously.

Witnesses say they saw some people covered with blood.

The man ended his attack by barricading himself in a building. He was arrested after a raid by a heavily armed specialized squad.

The 40-year-old man is now in hospital, being treated for self-inflicted wounds. The police are not releasing any further information. They say they have no idea what his motive was.
