Wildlife officials in canton Glarus have confirmed a rabies infected bat has been found.

The common Daubenton bat was spotted in the town of Mühlehorn.

Switzerland is considered rabies free, but rare one-off incidents are possible. There have only been 7 confirmed cases of rabies in the country since 1992.

Experts say there isn’t any reason for people to be concerned, but they do warn not to approach wild animals that seem to be behaving abnormally.
