The bicycle lobby group Pro Vélo is calling on the federal government to lift the amount of money available for bike specific transport infrastructure.
Currently the government allocates 1% to bikes, but cyclists want that lifted to 5%.
They also want traffic laws and road standards to be designed to be bike friendly and say that cantons and communes should have better access to information about the needs of cyclists.
Pro Vélo presented its views to a forum yesterday in Zurich, which involved the Federal Roads Office. They say more needs to be done if the aim is to double bicycle traffic.
