The Swiss population climbed by 1.7% last year – the strongest annual hike since 1960.
But much of that rise is down to Ukrainians in the country under the S permit system, which allows them temporary residency.
Last year’s rise was double the figure than the year before.
There are now 8.9 million people in the country, the growth last year was additional 146,900 people – roughly the size of Lausanne.
