Pollution levels in the Arve Valley, which runs from Annemasse to Chamonix, have reached critically high levels so restrictions have been out in place.
Fine particle and nitrogen dioxide pollution is causing concern. So, locals can’t use wood burners, buildings have to lower their temperature to 18 degrees and trucks with a level 5 pollution rating are now banned.
Also speed limits on some roads have been reduced.
Authorities say the pollution has been increasing since Friday in some areas of Haute Savoie.
