Police contacting those making threats online

The Federal Police Office in Bern is taking pro-active steps against Social Media users who make threats against public figures online.

This mainly relates at the moment to federal councillors and others surrounding the pandemic.

One user was shocked to find a letter in his mail box from the police which said they’ve been monitoring his Facebook page - and if further menacing comments are made against the Health minister Alain Berset, they would take legal action.

A Fedpol spokesman is confirming they’re sending letters to those they feel should be warned off. The office says it’s a low-key way of making contact to those who may feel like putting their threats into action.
