The plans by the City of Geneva to pedestrianize certain areas has hit a road block in the form of the right-wing party, the Geneva Citizens Movement.

They say they’ll launch a referendum against plans to close the Rue de Carouge to traffic.

It has been passed by the city council. The plans include widening the sidewalks, closing the parking spaces, planting more trees and upgrading the tram lines.

Right wing politicians says it will slow traffic in the city and create new jams.
