Plane aborts takeoff in Zurich after bird strike

A United Airlines flight bound for New York aborted its take-off in Zurich yesterday after birds were sucked into the engines.

No one was injured - but the flight was cancelled. Passengers were rebooked and offered food and accommodation if necessary.

The plane suffered two burst tyres due to emergency braking.

The Boeing 767 was heading for Newark yesterday morning.
