The number of people using Geneva airport last year is practically back to the same levels as before covid.
In 2024, 17.79 million passengers used the airport – which is roughly the same as 2019 – which was then a record.
Although the numbers are the same, the amount of aircraft movements were down nearly 4%. That’s due to larger aircraft being used.
The airport is also encouraged by its effort to persuade airlines to use newer, quieter and more efficient aircraft.
The number of late flights has been cut by a third after charges were introduced. Airlines face fees of up to CHF 20,000 for European flights and CHF 40,000 for intercontinental flights if they take off or land between 10pm and 6am.
The biggest airline at the airport remains easyJet which accounts of nearly half of all flights.
