Parliament rejects extra aviation tax

Parliament has rejected any new tax on airline tickets or aviation fuel.

The National Council has voted against a number of cantonal initiatives demanding more tax to fight CO2 emissions.

Those against the move say it’s too soon after the people rejected a CO2 law in June. In the summer 51.6% rejected the idea of new taxes and other measures to fight pollution.

Many voters were worried about increasing economic costs during the pandemic.
