One shot jab available next week

The one-shot vaccine from Johnson and Johnson, known as Jansen, will be available in Switzerland from next week.

The Federal Health Office had been under pressure to give access to a vaccine that’s not a messenger RNA jab as many people have said they would prefer the more tradition vector vaccine, which the Jansen jab is.

The government says it will be getting 150,000 doses – which will be allocated to the cantons.

The new vaccine is 70% effective – compared to over 90% from the mRNA jabs.

But one dose will be good enough to get a vaccine certificate. It has not been authorised for those who are pregnant.
