New rules on Geneva taxi fares will come into force from January next year.
There’ll be fare limits for taking a cab from the airport into the centre of town.
Drivers will not be able to charge more than CHF 50 for destinations to the right bank – and CHF 60 for the left bank.
There’ll be a flat rate of CHF 35 for any trip to the international organisations.
The amounts are almost double the initial fare limits discussed by the canton – which caused uproar with taxi drivers who claimed it was an effective rate below the cantonal minimum wage.
