More 'duds' being found

More so called ‘duds’ are being found across the country.

Dud is the term given to unexploded or partially exploded munitions – and the countryside seems to be littered with them.

The army says it expects the pandemic is the reason more are being found as people have not gone abroad so often and chosen to hike in the mountains.

Also, more people have been working in their gardens and allotments – so more munitions have been found there.

In the first six months of this year alone, 600 devices have been found. But there were actually more found in the same period last year.

If you come across something suspicious, don’t touch it – but call the police.

You can get a cash reward for preventing an accident. Last year the army paid out over CHF 8,000.
