Millions of litres of water goes missing

Officials in a Bernese village are scratching their heads after 14 million litres of water has gone missing.

The commune of Arni-Landiswil-Lauperswil should have received 35 million litres from the main supply – but only 21 million has been metered. Leaving 14 million missing.

The loss is concerning, as it could mean there’s a massive, but undetected leak, in the system. Or maybe thieves are operating.

Some fire hydrants seem to have been interfered with – but still, it would be hard to steal that much water.

The mystery remains – but investigators are working on it.
