Lausanne restaurant fined for 'catastrophic' failings

The owner of a Chinese restaurant has been fined for ‘catastrophic health failings’.

The premises in Lausanne were first inspected in April last year. The owner was told to make serious improvements – and then the agents returned in September. Nothing had changed.

The inspectors say there was no chance of tracing where the food was sourced, it was stored incorrectly, and basic hygiene rules not being followed.

But the most flagrant rule breaking was that staff were living in the cellar. There were three beds in one small room.

The 50-year-old owner had been convicted of similar offences in 2018. For the latest breach she was fined CHF 4,000.
