Illegal TV watching rife in Switzerland

The French premium TV channel ,Canal+, says watching pirated content in Switzerland is rife, compared to other countries.

The channel commissioned a survey and found 76% of TV viewers in Switzerland watch some illegal content – compared to 24% in France.

The problem is hacked IPTV boxes, which can be bought perfectly legally – but then users download software to give access to pay TV – especially for sport and films.

In an interview with the Tribune de Genève, Canal + says Switzerland lacks a powerful copyright law which could be used to cut down on piracy.

They also say that those who use illegal boxes are running a high chance of being hacked.
