Switzerland offers the highest concentration of cutting-edge study programmes in the world - according to the recent report published by higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds.
Overall the best performing institution in Switzerland was ETH Zurich, as a leader in Earth and Marine Sciences, Geophysics and Geology. It came in as 7th worldwide.
Other countries performing well on this list are the US - with MIT, Harvard, Stanford, and Berkeley amongst the top 10, and the UK - with Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College and UCL.
The other college that took a spot in the top 10 was the National University of Singapore, rated 8th overall.
The determining criteria are the academic reputation of the universities' fields of study, the evaluation of graduates by their employers and the frequency with which their studies are cited.
