Geneva wins federal case against elderly taxi driver

The Federal Court has backed canton Geneva when it told an 82-year-old taxi driver that he’s too old.

The driver says the law is unfair as there are not such rules governing VTC drivers, who work for companies such as Uber.

The current rules state that taxi drivers have to retire at the age of 75.

Federal judges ruled making the difference between Uber and taxi companies was fair, as taxis provide a quasi-public service.
