The City of Geneva has unveiled a plan to reduce the amount of greenhouse gasses the city produces.

Last June it set a target of cutting emissions by 60% by 2030 and be carbon neutral by 2050.

Some measures have already come into force - such as cutting the temperature in government buildings by one degree.

The city says it will spend CHF 4.5m on revegetation and CHF 10m on removing oil heating from municipal buildings.

It says from now on all projects will be rethought in the light of the ecological transition.

The council admits one of the hardest parts of the project will be winning the support of the population for the changes and the costs.
