Geneva gets tax cut - but no bridge

This won't happen

In Geneva, unsurprisingly, the voters agreed to have a tax cut. It will work out at an average of 8.7% - but middle earners could be paying 11% less.

The canton says the cuts are possible due to bigger than expected tax receipts from companies – especially from commodity trading firms.

It’s the only ‘yes’ vote. The pedestrian bridge running next to the Mont-Blanc Bridge has been rejected, as has changes to zoning laws which would have given more power to developers and changes to have public transport fares are set. The change would have removed the need for a vote each time.

And the people of Lancy have voted to remove advertising billboards from public property.
