Geneva based oligarch under sanctions

A Geneva based Russian oligarch has had sanctions imposed on him by the United Kingdom.

Under the restrictions, he’s unable to travel to the UK and any money he has in the country will be frozen. 

Gennady Timchenko is known to be a close personal friend of president Putin and Forbes magazine estimate his wealth to be around USD 20bn.

It’s believed Timchenko meets Putin regularly for judo and ice hockey. 

He holds shares in Russian oil, gas and construction companies. 

He lives in a villa on the shores of Lake Geneva, estimated at CHF 18m. He also owns homes and hotels in France and a fleet of private jets. 

Timchenko’s daughter, Xenia, lives in Cologny.
