The former head of the Zurich based world football body FIFA, Sepp Blatter, has been questioned by federal prosecutors as part of the ongoing investigation into a CHF 2m fee paid to UEFA head, Michel Platini.
The 85-year-old former football supremo says the payment was proper and reflected late unpaid wages following consultancy work.
Blatter was forced to resign from FIFA in 2015 after ‘ethics breaches. Prosecutors say the payment to Platini was made in Blatter’s self interest and not in the interest of the football organisation.
Federal authorities say the interviews are part of the normal investigation process and no inference of guilt should be made.
