The former Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer has taken up a new role with the Lausanne based International Olympic Committee.
He’ll be one of the five independent members of the organization’s Ethics Commission.
It was set up in 1999 and draws up guidelines for the IOC based on the Olympic Charter.
He’ll be replacing another former Federal Councillor Samuel Schmid.
The commission has been chaired by the former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon since 2017.
Maurer was the federal minister for sport for a while and made it known he wanted to be involved with sport once again.
