Heavy rain on Saturday caused flooding in many areas of the country – especially in Ticino. Many streets in the cantonal capital Bellinzona turned into rivers and two people had the be rescued from their car.
Meteo News say 96 litres of rain per square metre fell in Bellinzona and nearly the same amount in Lugano.
Many roads were closed on Saturday afternoon. Local police advised people not to go out.
