Despite an anti-tobacco vote two years ago, parliament is pushing for an exemption for music festivals.
The Tobacco Free Children initiative called on all tobacco advertising that could be seen by those under 18 to be banned.
But many summer festival organisers are pushing back, saying they’re dependent on the sponsorship money.
The Swiss Music Promoters Organisation say if they had to forego tobacco cash – ticket prices would have to rise.
Many outdoor festivals allow areas only open to over 18s to be sponsored by tobacco firms. In the past the Winston cigarette brand had a closed off area at many festivals.
