A man flying a motorized paraglider missed his landing spot and crashed into Lake Geneva and was rescued by a kayaker.

The 28-year-old pilot was coming into land near Yvoire on Sunday afternoon, when his engine broke down and he lost altitude and hit the water.

A witness onshore saw the accident, called emergency services and then grabbed his kayak and went out to get the pilot.

The pilot was taken to hospital in Thonon suffering from hypothermia.
