More details of why the Federal Councillor Alain Berset was forced to land his private aircraft in France have come to light.
The fact that Berset has a pilot’s licence has also come as a surprise to many.
Bersert was flying a light aircraft alone across France last week, when he passed too close to a military airfield and didn’t respond to radio messages. The French air force scrambled two jets to intercept and forced him to land.
Berset was interviewed by police - but was allowed to continue.
Press report suggest Berset was trying to keep his hobby a secret. Many are now accusing him of double standards.
His Social Democrat has been instrumental in banning a traditional air show at a Zurich festival on environmental grounds. A Zurich cantonal councillor says the Social Democrat policy is only for some – and not all.
