Switzerland will soon start vaccinated those over 12 and should be well prepared for the Delta variant.
That’s according to the head of the Federal Commission for Vaccinations, Christoph Berger.
He told the NZZ newspaper in an interview that young people who want to be vaccinated should be able to – and although the young are not high risk, they may be in contact with those that are.
He points out that over 3 million younger people have been given the vaccine in the United States, with no noticeable negative effects.
He also says this country is well prepared for the Delta variant because the exclusive use of mRNA vaccines and the quick administering of two doses.
Countries which are struggling with Delta, such as the UK, relied heavily on the AstraZeneca jab, which may not be as effective against it, and concentrated on delivering a single dose.
He stresses getting two doses is vital.
