It’s been 12 years since the mysterious Chevaline killings near Lake Annecy, but investigators have not given up.
In September 2012, a 50-year-old British man of Iraqi origin, his wife and his mother-in-law were found dead in their car – all shot in the head. A child was seriously injured and another discovered hiding under her mother’s body, unharmed.
A cyclist passing by was also shot.
In all, 21 shots were fired.
The person responsible, and even the motive, is unknown.
It was passed to a cold case unit two years ago. Using new technology – fragments of an old Luger pistol, used by the Swiss army in the 1930s was found at the scene. That, and other pieces of evidence, are going be re-checked for DNA.
The public prosecutor’s office in Nanterre says new technical expertise is now available.
