One of the advantages of arriving at Geneva airport has disappeared.
At the end of last month, the ticket machines that gave visitors a free ride on public transport were dismantled.
It's a benefit the airport has been offering for the last 15 years, but with falling air traffic because of the pandemic it’s become too expensive.
The airport was paying around CHF 1m a year to provide free public transport tickets. They were billed at a special rate to take into account that not all the tickets issued by the machines were used.
There are hopes free tickets will return. The airport and the public transport companies will restart talks in the middle of this year.
But in the meantime. visitors will now have to pay for a bus or a tram ride.
