Arson in Vevey: woman found dead

A woman died in an apartment fire on Friday morning in Vevey. Police suspect arson.

A 35 year old man who was known to the victim has been apprehended and detained. 

According to a statement released yesterday by Vaud police, the emergency services were called shortly before 9.30am and alerted to a fire in a 5-storey apartment block. They found the body of the 75 year old woman in the apartment upon arrival.

The fire was brought under control without needing to evacuate the rest of the building. There were no other casualties.
