600 vaccine side effects reported

The medicines regulator Swissmedic says during the current vaccination campaign, there have been nearly 600 cases of side effects reported.

In that number, 177 were classed as serious. But the regulator says there was no threat to life.

The most commonly reported side-effects were fever, vomiting, headaches and anaphylactic shock.

Some have died after receiving the vaccine – but all of those were over 85 years old with underlying medical conditions. In all those cases, it’s concluded the vaccine was not directly responsible for the death.

The reported side effects are generally evenly split between the types of vaccine – either the Pfizer or Moderna jab.

Women seem to be slightly more adversely affected, accounting for 69% of reported side effects.
