
Geneva traders say December didn't make up for previous closures
Despite a statement from the Geneva Statistical Office which says the level of retail trade in December was satisfactory – many traders disagree.

In November many non-essential businesses were forced to close. It was hoped the December trade would make up some of those losses. Traders say while there was an uplift just before Christmas, it won’t be enough to make up for the previous closures.
The head of a small business association, Yves Menoud, says the limits of the number of customers in a shop and the closure of local restaurants dragged down the number of people on the streets.
