Grand Genève region continues to grow
The economic growth of the Grand Genève region continues and the bordering Geneva town of Annemasse is now the second biggest in the French Department of Haute-Savoie, taking over from Thonon-les-Bains. Annecy remains the biggest town in the region.
Figures from the French Statistical Office show the population in Haute Savoie is up by 100,000 over the past ten years.
The other neighbouring Department of Ain is also growing with a population rise of over 11% in ten years.
It does seem the proximity to Geneva is the main driving force as more than 80,000 workers cross the border every day to work in the canton.
