Geneva protestors fight lockdown
Hundreds protested in Geneva yesterday against the continuing cantonal lockdown.
Geneva is the only canton where small shops and businesses are closed.
The demonstration was called by the restaurant and café association. They claim closing their businesses has no impact on the spread of the virus and are calling for an immediate re-opening.
The canton is allowing hairdressers and some other businesses to open from tomorrow – but the hospitality sector will remain closed until the end of the month.
There is growing unhappiness over the lockdown. There was also a significant protest last Saturday.
Bar owners are threatening to break the law and open if the canton doesn’t relent.
