Pressure on ICU remains high
Although the infection rate is falling, its not by much and there’s still pressure on intensive care beds.
Yesterday a further 299 were admitted to hospital and 142 died. The infection rate is running at 23.4%.
Switzerland remains one of the worst hit countries in Europe – with western parts the worst affected in the country.
The head of infection control at the Federal Health Office, Virginie Masserey, says the numbers are concerning – but they are moving in the right direction.
She defended the policy of not placing the whole country under lockdown – saying while other countries are free to make their own decisions, Switzerland has chosen the middle ground.
