Economist calls for sceptics to be denied care
Comments by a Zurich based health economist are being rejected by all sides.
Willy Oggier says those who deny the existence of the coronavirus should be refused intensive care treatment.
He says it would be a fairer way to allocate scarce resources. If someone has failed to follow basic safety rules – then they should not be prioritized over others who need care.
No one agrees. Geneva cantonal health officials says anyone who needs medical care will get it.
The director of the Institute of Bio-Medical ethics in Zurich, Nikola Biller-Andorno, says he was surprised at the idea and it's unacceptable someone would be refused treatment on the basis of their beliefs.
