Calls to change quarantine rules
There are calls to rethink quarantine rules as the infection rate in Switzerland continues to rise.
Some say it now makes no sense to force a traveller into quarantine when arriving back from many European countries as the Swiss rate is higher than many regions elsewhere.
The Federal Health Office says it’s aware of the discrepancy and is examining possible changes.
Many cantonal leaders in the French speaking regions say the quarantine is having little effect. Geneva State Councillor, Mauro Poggia, says closing the borders achieves nothing.
The federal government is planning an inter-cantonal meeting tomorrow to discuss further tactics.
