Infections and deaths rise over the weekend
Infections - and deaths – continue to rise. The latest figures from the Federal Health Office shows more than 4,000 tested positive over the weekend. That’s an infection rate of 11.4%.
Last Monday it was 1,500 with a rate of 6%.
Seven have also died since Friday.
Geneva remains the worst affected canton with 288 infections per 100,000 people over the last two weeks – canton Schwyz was the next with 257.
In an effort to stem infections in Geneva, the canton is considering bringing in requirements for people to inform authorities if they’re planning a party at home.
It’s believed private meetings account for 75% of infections.
The proposal is scheduled to be discussed at the next cantonal cabinet meeting tomorrow.
