Track and trace under pressure across the country
The country’s track and trace systems are under immense strain as the infection rate rises.
A report in yesterday’s SonntagsZeitung newspaper highlights several cantons are struggling to keep up.
In Zurich several cases of potentially infected people have not been contacted.
On average no more than 30% of those testing positive had been previously warned that they may be infected. A Bernese epidemiologist, Nicola Low, told the paper that needs to be up at 80% to be effective.
The Vaud and Geneva health departments say they’re expanding operating hours and recruiting more staff.
The French speaking cantons are currently suffering the highest infection rates in the country.
