National News // Oct. 12, 2020

A group of Swiss doctors say everyone should be taking nutritional supplements containing vitamins C and D, zinc, selenium and omega-3 fatty acids to counter Covid-19.

Six doctors, researchers as well as the Swiss Society for Nutrition have published a paper which says the nutrients are essential for a strong immune system.

The US President Donald Trump was given zinc and vitamin D as soon as he tested positive.

The doctors say there’s strong evidence that infected patients with a low vitamin D blood level have a poorer prognosis.

They say the Swiss population has a low level of essential nutrients with 20% failing to eat enough fresh fruit and vegetables. Vitamin D is particularly low in the winter as the body can produce it with sunlight and it’s not common in food.
