Vaud bans 't-shirt of shame'.
Canton Vaud has banned the use of the so-called t-shirt of shame in its schools.
The decision follows the publicity of student demonstrations in Geneva who called it demeaning and sexist.
At the Geneva school the shirt had the slogan ‘I am appropriately dressed’ and extends to the knees. More girls were told to wear the shirt than boys.
It’s been revealed some schools in Vaud have been using a similar shirt, but without the slogan.
The cantonal department of education says the practice is stigmatizing and says it will stop.
The t-shirt of shame story in Geneva was covered by the press in several different countries, including France and the UK.
